Kids Club has rescheduled the launch of Kids Club Summer for 2021.  With the necessary protocols and safety measures needed to stop the spread of COVID19, the summer day camp experience that we had planned is not possible this year. However, we are committed to actively engaging with KC families in various ways throughout this summer, and we are more excited than ever about what is to come in Summer 2021.

Actively Serving
New Braunfels Christian Ministries continues to adapt to the changing environment and serve our students, patients, and volunteers. Our mission to multiply possibilities in our community is even more crucial than ever before.

Kids Club volunteers and staff distributed meat and groceries to 100 families on Monday and Tuesday this week. We celebrate donations from Najim Charitable Foundation, Stahlman Foundation, and We’re All In, as well as our wonderful volunteers and staff that made it happen.

One KC mom shared, “We will be using EVERYTHING! We already cut up the veggies for a veggie stew. Thank you so much! It was so much more than I had expected. It helped us out so much!” You can watch a short video of the grocery distribution here. Kids Club Program Sites will remain closed for the remainder of the school year.

Volunteers in Medicine staff are dedicated to caring for our patients’ physical, emotional, and spiritual needs. VIM has partnered with Michael in his struggle with diabetes. While many in our community were focused on COVID19, Michael’s foot infection intensified to a critical point.

“I felt alone and in pain. The staff prayed for me.”  Despite many roadblocks and delays in securing treatment, VIM helped Michael find a way to have the life-saving, below-the-knew amputation that he needed.  “I believe God placed VIM in my path for securing the miracle that I needed.  I’ll forever be grateful to them.”  Michael is hopeful, as he heals from surgery and looks forward to getting his new prosthetic.  He plans to be walking by June.  Through tears, Michael says, “I’m going to walk into VIM and thank them in person!”

Ministry is On-Going
New Braunfels Christian Ministries continues to adapt to the changing environment. Our staff is actively ministering to students, patients, and volunteers. Our mission to multiply possibilities in our community is even more crucial than ever before.

Kids Club staff are sharing videos to point students to the hope of Christ and encourage them to serve their family. You can view one of the videos here: “PowerHouse: Stinky Feet – Jesus Washes the Disciple’s Feet.” Kids Club program sites will remain closed until May 4.

Volunteers in Medicine staff are dedicated to caring for our patients’ physical, emotional, and spiritual needs. Staff are calling patients to check in, pray for them and ask how they are doing. If a patient expresses a medical need, that medical need is addressed over the phone or by scheduling an appointment. But the mental and spiritual needs being met by these phone calls are just as important. Through tears, Sally* shared that no one has ever offered to pray for her before. The love of Christ continues to bring hope and healing at VIM. *Pseudonym used to protect patient privacy.

New Braunfels Christian Ministries is committed to keeping children, families, patients, volunteers, and staff safe as we do the important work of affirming God-given value and multiplying possibilities through Kids Club and Volunteers in Medicine.

NBCM has been monitoring the public health situation related to the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19), and we will continue to do so.  NBCM will also continue to follow recommendations from the Comal County Public Health Department, the Centers for Disease Control, our local school districts, and government officials.

We are following guidelines from the CDC and Comal County Health Department, including:

  • Cleaning – We have put in place additional cleaning/sanitizing procedures at all program sites.
  • Hygiene – We are implementing additional measures to equip staff, volunteers, patients, and students to maintain good hygiene at all times.
  • Contact – We are asking staff, volunteers, patients, and students to refrain from physical contact.
  • Staying Home – We are asking all staff and volunteers to stay home if they are ill or have any symptoms associated with Coronavirus (COVID-19).

In addition, we continue to develop contingency plans for our programs, and we are prepared to take direction from health officials and government leaders to ensure the safety of our patients, children, families, volunteers, and staff.

In the coming days we pledge:

  • To Be Flexible – We will remain vigilant and flexible, ready to adapt as circumstances require.
  • To Communicate – We will continue to communicate with you as the situation evolves.
  • To Pray – We will pray for those struggling with Novel Coronavirus, for medical professionals and government leaders, and for an end to the spread of disease.

In this time, as at any other, we must remember: “For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind” (2 Timothy 1:7 – NJKV). Fear does not drive us, motivate us, or determine our course.  God is our guide. He is in control.

All our decisions, all our actions are guided by love: God’s love for us, our love for Him and for all people.  When we trust God, He gives us the wisdom we need to think clearly, use good judgement, and make wise decisions.

Let us move forward together in a confident faith.
